Xerox Printer Sales- We are the only authorized Xerox dealer and service center for
the North Shore and can sell everywhere. Our customers are businesses of all sizes. They
all buy printers and Xerox has the best products for the best prices - they may as well
buy from us! You must have a clean business appearance, speak well, be good at
consultative selling, and have a car with insurance. We pay a high commission on sales and
expenses, but no base salary. You would be a contract sales representative, given a
territory, training materials, list of prospects, brochures, and business cards.
The sales position we now offer is described as follows.
I have established five computer stores since 1977 and have sold
thousands of printers. Between Slidell and Hammond, there are 450 businesses all of which
purchase workgroup printers. Each printer should be replace every three years. The average
price is $1500. Some companies have lots of printers; the Covington hospital has 230, for
example.
Xerox makes the best printers. We can compare to the competition and
show the advantages, but the price is not more. We also have by far the best quality color
with the solid ink models.
The website, www.Office.Xerox.com, has all the information you could
want on the products and prices. We sell at the lowest mail-order prices, so there is no
competition.
I envision three salesmen to cover the territory. You would be assigned
a list of prospects and call or visit them to sell them. Or, you could just go down the
street, stopping at each business. Chances are they have obsolete printers, the wrong
ones, or ones which cost too much to maintain. We can look at what they have and suggest
ways to save 20-30% of their printing costs. If they are ready to buy, they may as well
buy from you as anywhere else. If not, you will ask them to call you before they buy in
the future to compare what we have to whatever else they can buy. You don't need to be an
expert; we have Xerox backing us up with everything we need.
You might think that most buy printers from Office Depot or Circuit
City. They only have home office printers, not capable of high volume, speed, or
reliability. Xerox includes a 1 year on-site warranty!
We also offer, of course, leasing and monthly payments and have a
showroom to demonstrate all the models. Further, we offer the Xerox PagePack program. Each
day Xerox will look at all printers in a company through the internet and see if they need
more toner, maintenance, or are having problems. The toner will be shipped automatically
by Federal Express and a repair man will show up to to service if it is needed without
being called. The customer pays a flat price per copy, the same as it now costs him. He
doesn't need to order or stock supplies or worry about repairs.
Many people don't realize they need color to compete. It only costs
$.101 per page and black costs $.012 where a copy shop will charge about $.75 a copy.
Instead of printing 3000 brochures, a sales company can print them in house as they need
them at a lower cost!
Most sales jobs pay a base salary and a commission. We choose to pay
double the commission and no base. If you want to sit in coffee shops, that
that's fine. It doesn't cost us anything!
We also sell Kodak Scanners. Although Xerox has scanners, and we sell
those too, the Kodak models have an advantage, and buyers know it.
The third leg of the chair is the software which allows paper in file
cabinets to be replaced with digital images stored on computer. When visiting to sell a
printer, you may notice walls of files. You can suggest that we can replace them with a
Document Management System for $1000 to $50,000.
On the computer, you can type "Joe Smith" and all the
documents related to that account appear on the screen and can be printed on demand. This
saves the time to look for the file and replace it. There will be no more lost files. A
file cabinet takes 9 square feet of storage which costs $120. per year in rent.
Incoming mail should go right through the scanner and to the trash can.
The mail can then be sent over the network to each person's email box and to archive
storage. If they don't have it now, they will in the future.
Fourth, we offer an archive record storage. We pick up storage boxes of
files and store them in our warehouse for delivery in the future, as required. You can see

Xerox Printer Repair - We are the authorized Xerox warranty depot for the North Shore. Xerox pays us
a very high hourly flat rate for warranty service, which is mostly identifying problems,
making adjustments, or replacing modules. The work is clean, follows exact instructions,
and is done in the customers' business offices. We hope to have continuous service
contracts, but the work demand is now sporadic. You must be neat, reliable, able to do the
work, have a notebook computer ($250), and have a car with insurance. There are several
training courses on CD you would study at home and pass a test on each one to be certified
by Xerox. You would be a contract repair technician, certified in several specific
models of printers, and given manuals, tools, and business cards.

Scanner Operator - We
are developing a service business to scan business records and put them on CD to be on
computer to replace file cabinets and for archive purposes. The work includes putting
stacks of paper on the scanner, correcting the paper jams, correcting the bad scans on a
computer video monitor, and then copying the files to a CD. There can be no errors. You
would work at home or in our office, as you choose, full or part time as jobs are sold.
Pay would be on a piece basis and change as per the job contract, but would always be
above normal.
